The fictional character of Aragorn from J.R.R. Tolkien’s classic “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy has been beloved by millions of fans throughout the world since it was published in 1954. Aragorn AKA Strider plays a crucial and pivotal role in Tolkien’s fantasy masterpiece. In the books Aragorn is described as follows:
…As Frodo drew near he threw back his hood, showing a shaggy head of dark hair flecked with grey, and in a pale stern face a pair of keen grey eyes.
Clearly, this excerpt proves that Aragorn is white or Caucasian in appearance beyond a shadow of a doubt. This makes sense as Tolkien specifically created Middle-earth mythology as a homage to Northern Europeans. Every artist who has drawn, illustrated, and painted him also portrayed him as Tolkien intended him to be.
But all this changed when French artist Magil Villeneuve gave him black African features for Wizards of the Coast Magic the Gathering Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth upcoming trading card game.
As I reported in a previous article, this shameful act of needless race swapping was done purposely by Wizards of the Coast and it was done with the approval of Embracer Group who owns Middle-earth Enterprises — the official licensor of all Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit intellectual property.
This act of cultural vandalism is a grave affront to the legacy of J.R.R. Tolkien and has rightly angered many loyal Tolkien fans who find this act of woke virtue signaling to be utterly repulsive.
Every person involved in this fiasco bears responsibility for this disgraceful act including the artist who created this card, Magali Villeneuve.
This French woman has been creating commissioned art for Magic the Gathering and other companies for many years. Magali is also the go-to artist for creating black TCG art and has created many black characters for MTG over the years.
Behold, White Aragorn
Magali is no stranger to Tolkien and Middle-earth. She is very well-acquainted with all of the main characters as her trading card art clearly shows.
In 2014, Magili tweeted a piece of art she created for Fantasy Flight Games Lord of the Rings game called Aragorn. Here’s the tweet:
Villeneuve’s reverential 2014 depiction of the iconic Aragorn as a white male is true to Tolkien’s books. She knew full well that Aragorn was Caucasian before she consented to create the ridiculous black Aragorn for Wizards of the Coast. This is not the only white Aragorn that she created in the past. Here are three more examples:
Conclusion
Hasbro-owned Wizards of the Coast who publishes Magic the Gathering cards knew that Aragorn was white. They also knew that Magali had created at least 4 white versions of Aragorn in the past. Knowing all of this, they still had the audacity to convince the French artist to be a part of this woke abomination. Sauron would be very proud of them!
It just boggles my mind that an artist would consent to be a part of this rape and pillaging of Tolkien’s lore.
Why would an artist of Magali Villeneuve’s caliber be a part of this desecration of Tolkien’s lore?
Where is her artistic integrity?
Where is her respect for Tolkien and millions of fans who know that Aragorn is a white male?
Nowhere to be found apparently.
The only explanation is the obvious one: the undeniable reality of our world is that some people will do anything for money. Or perhaps she was afraid of refusing to create black Aragorn so she could continue to get more commissions from Wizards of the Coast. Even worse, she’s infected with the woke mind virus and thought was doing the right thing.
The sad truth is that this artist knew that Aragorn was white but decided “re-imagine” him and race-swap him anyway. But in the process, for a few hundred euros, she disgraced the legacy of J.R.R. Tolkien who would have been furious if this happened during his lifetime.
If the morally bankrupt entertainment industrial complex can disembowel the Lord of the Rings with impunity, there is no stopping them from destroying other classic works of literature and art. It’s already happening as authors like Agatha Christia, Ian Fleming, Roald Dahl, and others are having their work gutted by neo-Marxists in the name of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
